On 9 November, the Government of Flanders approved a 1 million euro grant to Red Cross Flanders for a follow-up on the regional first aid initiative in southern Africa. With this initiative, Red Cross Flanders aims at contributing to solving the regional challenges in developing countries in the field of first aid.

On 26 October, the Government of Flanders approved a grant of 2 million euros to PROSAUDE, the joint fund for the health sector in Mozambique. By supporting PROSAUDE, the Government of Flanders aims to strengthen the health policy and the health sector in Mozambique.

On 16 October, the 7th Bilateral Consultation between the Governments of Flanders and Mozambique was held in Maputo. The primary objective of the meeting was to exchange views on the respective economic, social and political situation of both partners and to evaluate the implementation of the 3rd Country Strategy Paper (CSP) on Development Cooperation (2016-2020). The current CSP aims to strengthen the health care sector in Mozambique in general and Tete province in particular, with a specific focus on the promotion of sexual and reproductive health and rights of adolescent girls.

On 12 October the Governments of South Africa and Flanders held their 6th Annual Consultation on Development Cooperation in Pretoria. Delegations of the governments of South Africa and Flanders discussed the implementation of ongoing development cooperation programmes. South African government departments and agencies presented results and challenges, and partners discussed the way forward.
