SU Saxophone Symposium: Liam Burden & Kurt Bertels in Concert @ Endler Hall, Stellenbosch

On Saturday 13 April, the Department of Music at Stellenbosch University is hosting a Saxophone Symposium, which will end with a Concert at 16:00 featuring Departmental saxophone lecturer, Liam Burden, and Kurt Bertels, classical saxophonist and post-doctoral researcher from the Royal Conservatory and Vrije Universiteit Brussels.

The performance will also feature saxophone students from the Department of Music, and the University of Stellenbosch Symphonic Wind Ensemble, conducted by guest extraordinary-professor (brass, conducting) in the Department, Rik Ghesquière.

Shukuma Mzansi III: SA-EU Community Arts Centres Dialogue

The third edition of the Shukuma Mzansi! SA-EU Community Arts Centres Dialogue will tackle the issue of ‘Implementing the National Community Arts Centre policy in Municipalities’ and is scheduled to take place in Port Elizabeth (Eastern Cape) on the 2nd and 3rd of March 2020; and in Durban (KwaZulu Natal) on the 5th and 6th of March 2020.

People who did not yet submit a delegate application form, but are interested in attending the SA-EU Community Arts Centres Dialogue, the registration fee for the 2-day dialogue-workshops is R1 250, and to attend 1 day is R750. The registration fee covers conference material, lunch and participation in the dialogue programme. Travel and accommodation will be the responsibility of the person attending. This initiative is funded by the SA-EU Strategic Partnership – the Dialogue Facility, which contributes to the strengthening of relations between the European Union and South Africa and encourages cooperation between equal partners in a number of areas in the economic, social and cultural fields; and co-funded by the Department of Arts & Culture. It is presented in partnership with the Department of Cooperative Governance & Traditional Affairs (CoGTA), the South African Local Government Association (SALGA), the Embassies of Ireland and France and the Government of Flanders.
