Soup for Mandela Day 2020

The Covid-19 pandemic has further highlighted the issues of poverty, hunger and isolation faced by millions of South Africans on a daily basis. Food security has become increasingly critical at this time when many have lost their incomes and livelihoods.

Social distancing and lockdown regulations have prevented us from planning our usual Mandela Day team activity, but we have kept up the tradition from the safety of our own homes. During the course of Mandela Day, 18 July, we were donning aprons and making some soups - in 67 minutes, that were donated to the Waterkloof Community Action Network (CAN). CAN, with St Francis of Assisi Anglican Church, are offering various services to those suffering most during this time. One of these services is Soup Angels - the delivery of homemade soups to those in need in the Waterkloof through Sunnyside areas in Pretoria. We hope that our soups can keep some families warm during these cold winter days!
