Prosaude is the common fund for the health sector in Mozambique, jointly managed by the Government of Mozambique and donor partners Ireland, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Flanders and UNFPA. The fund comprises donor contributions which are used to finance healthcare in the country. On 11 July 2022, representatives of Prosaude donor partners signed an addendum to the Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Health (MISAU), thereby extending the MoU by two years. The ceremony was hosted by the Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Farida Ursi. Flanders was represented by the General Representative of Flanders in Southern Africa, Dr. Geraldine Reymenants and the Deputy General Representative of Flanders in Mozambique, Ms. Kaat Matthys.

The event marks the renewed commitment from the cooperation partners to strengthen the Mozambican Health System. Financial support is given for the implementation of activities defined in the Strategic Plan of the Health Sector (PESS) and in the Government's Five-Year Plan (PQG). This two-year extension of the Prosaude MoU will furthermore allow for research into new ways of integrating different sector funding mechanisms in the health sector in order to avoid further fragmentation.
