Flanders grants € 1,2 million to the International Centre for Reproductive Health - Mozambique
On 5 October, the Government of Flanders granted € 1,2 million to the International Centre for Reproductive Health - Mozambique for a project that improves sexual and reproductive health among adolescents in Maputo province, Mozambique.
The project “Realizing younger adolescents’ sexual and reproductive rights” is based on existing partnerships and experiences between Flanders and the Centro Internacional Para Saúde Reprodutiva - ICRH-M. The objective this four-year project is to focus on young adolescents and to increase the sexual education of this group. The direct target group consists of 5,000 girls and 5,000 boys between 10 and 19 years. It also includes parents, community leaders and the wider family; groups that are often left out of consideration in classical approaches.
“With Mozambique as one of our official partner countries, Flanders has opted for a geographical and thematic focus so that resources can be used efficiently,” says Minister-president Geert Bourgeois.
