Flemish choreographer Jan Martens brings Rule of Three to the Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunsfees, a contemporary dance piece that defines itself as something in between a concert and a short story collection.

Rule of Three takes as its starting point our ability to zap in a flash from one impression to another. A sequence of scenes echoes the fragmentary experience of reality that is the consequence of this overload of stimuli. It is a collection of short stories, written with bodies, light, music, costumes and text. Jan Martens collaborates for the very first time with American producer and drummer NAH, whose music blends live and programmed drums with found sounds and heavily manipulated samples. The performers engage in a dialogue with NAH’s eclectic musical composition and keep driving up the sensory stimulation.
